Synopsis

Book Review

The darkest of The Underland Chronicles, this book brings to a close the prophecies of the Earl of Sandwich. Gregor matures at the end of the last book and throughout this one. He’s faced more than any 12 year old should have to face, and in this book, he needs to make a choice. Is he willing to give his life to save the lives of his friends? Or is there another way that he can help them, without getting killed? This book is exciting, adventurous and engaging, with plenty of unexpected twists and turns.

Audio Review

Paul Boehmer once again delivers an exciting and realistic portrayal of life in the Underland, bringing all of the characters to life. Having read the entire series, he brings a consistency to the stories that make them a joy to listen to over and over.

Characters

Gregor – 12 years old, Gregor is our hero. He once again takes on the role of the warrior to help the Regalians and Luxa.

Boots – 3 year old Boots is Gregor’s baby sister. She is supposedly the key to breaking the Code of Claw, but she can’t even read yet!

Luxa – Also 12, Luxa is the queen of Regalia in the Underland. Like Gregor, Luxa has grown up a lot over the course of these five books.

Temp – A giant cockroach, ready to do whatever he can to serve Boots, the princess.

Aurora – Luxa’s giant bat and her bond. Where Luxa goes, so does Aurora.

Ares – Ares is Gregor’s bat and his bond, and a true friend. As Gregor’s bond, it is his job to make sure that Gregor doesn’t die.

Ripred – A giant rat and ally to the humans. Can he help them in their war against the rats? Or is he in position to betray the Regalians?

The Bane – A giant white rat, who has developed a charismatic following among the rats unhappy with their treatment by the humans. His biggest problem is that he’s crazy, and crazy leaders do crazy and unpredictable things.
